A big part of our jobs as wedding photographers is location scouting. Weather if it's for an engagement shoot, a lifestyle session, or a wedding we're always on the hunt for new places and locations to photograph in. Most venue's in Vancouver host hundreds of weddings a year, so it's our mission to make sure we capture your wedding in a way that's unique to you and who you are as a couple. We love to sneak in at least one new or quirky location in every shoot. The problem with that is the longer we've been photographers the harder it gets to find places you haven't been before. That's where location scouting becomes and art. It's a skill that has to be excessed often and we take that very seriously. You'll rarely catch us taking the same road home, or if we're late, it's probably because we took a detour somewhere along the way because we spotted some building with absurd architecture or a huge field of freshly blooming flowers. This trip has been no different. Josh, in particular, has an ability to find the most bizarre places. Like this random oasis in the middle of the desert. Despite the fact my paralyzing fear of snakes meant I was running from boulder to boulder because I was convinced a snake would jump out and 'get me' I was just as equally as blown away by the beauty around me. Maybe it's because these California landscapes are so different from home. Every few minutes I seem to be dying over something I'm seeing. All this to say I've realized two things... Number one, travel is good for the soul. Number two, I couldn't image going on these adventures with anyone else other then my love.
We've vacationed a fair bit abroad in our time together as a couple. But there is one place in North America that has our hearts in a big way and that place is the desert. Neither of us can really explain why. Maybe its the fact that we live in literally the most opposite climate you could imagine. Green, rain, clouds, water, and mild are all words that describe the Pacific Northwest. These photos below show how different Palm Springs is. We chose Palm Springs because we wanted to go somewhere that would force us to relax before wedding season kicks off. Things will be chaotic in a couple weeks and we'll be photographing the hell out of our lovely city Vancouver and its lovely inhabitants getting married.
That being said, yesterday we just went for a drive. And snapped some shots. We saw lizards, saved a turtle from getting run over by a car, rode bikes, and lounged about. Heres some photos to wet your appetite and get you down to the land of intolerable heat and awe inspiring beauty. Hopefully we'll have a couple more posts up this week as we continue to explore.
Vancouver Wedding Photographers - Green Ginger
I dare you to come up with a venue that shows off the beauty of British Columbia better then the Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz. I could stare at those mountains for days. Today's wedding was like no other. I'm sure we experienced every kind of weather pattern imaginable. Sun, Rain, Hail, Wind, Mist and a double rainbow to finish off the day. Yet somehow, it would clear up just when you wanted it to. I wasn't the only one who couldn't get enough of that epic mountain. I could start a book of wedding guest selfies taken at Brett and Jennifer's wedding. In fact, this should be a thing... Listen up Instagram, you should let users print images from #hashtags instead of just the images from their own account. Personalized wedding hashtags have become quite popular, so how great would it be if the bride and groom could print off an artifact uprising mini book complete images of how your guests experienced your wedding? This is the next big thing and you heard it here folks!
In the mean time, I'm excited to share a little preview of this beautiful wedding! Enjoy.
Weddings have always been extra special for me. So when dear friends are getting married and I get to be their photographer, my heart explodes. But this is just a preview so I'll save all the gushing for the full post and let these photographs speak for themselves. We explored forests and rivers and waterfalls and we documented these two lovebirds. I'm beyond excited for their July wedding at Whonnock Lake. Stay tuned since there's a million more photos to share from this engagement shoot!
